#Radiobattle: Latvia reached semi-finals
In another Sunday evening Radio battle quarterfinals we had a chance to listen to great match between two very strong radio teams - Estonia and Latvia. Last year both of them, together with O radio, participated in the finals of this competition. Victory and open doors into the semi-finals this Sunday belong to Latvian radio station Radio 5.
During the first part of the competition Estonians have had minor technical problems, so we were able to hear them again after three Latvian songs. During this time, Latvians played music that represent them at the Eurovision contest. In addition, they kept one of their traditions and for the second time they invited their fans to tweet cat photos on their hashtag. People quickly accepted this invitation so hashtag #radiobattleLV was again - a heaven for cat lovers.
Already at halftime of the battle Latvia took the lead in the number of tweets. Last year they won the first place in the overall ranking, and as we are closer to the finals of this years competition, we have more and more chance to battle this team.
Tonight's winners were led by Karmen and Magnus, who work together at the Latvian Radio 5. They are well known in their own country, and more than a year ago, they launched their own radio show "The total evening" in which listeners have the opportunity to hear about the latest music events around the world.
Magnuss is very famous DJ in Latvia and he knows alot about dance music, and Carmel is a big fan of cats, so now you know where their "cats on hashtag" tradition comes from.
Less fortunate in this round and the competition were Estonians, their Raadio 2 and DJs Joosep Jarvesaar i Mihkel Sillaots. This DJ duo has their own, very popular, radio show called "Grind". Joosep Jarvesaar was also a member of a band called Bedwetters, and in 2007 they won the prestigious MTV prize "New Sounds of Europe". During the battle thez actually played one of Bedwetters songs.
Latvia is now in the semi-finals, together with O radio and Armenian ArmRadio, who have previously qualified for the semifinals.
